Committee constituted to conduct census of water bodies

The Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday constituted a state-level committee for conducting censuses of irrigation and water bodies.

An order issued from the general administration department read, “Sanction is hereby accorded to the constitution of state-level steering committee for conducting of 6th minor irrigation census, 2017-18, and census of water bodies, 2017-18.”

   

As per the order, financial commissioner revenue shall be the chairman of the committee, while director statistics shall be the member secretary.

Besides, director general, economics and statistics, deputy director general, state head NSSO, government of India, director rural development department, Jammu/Kashmir, director agriculture production department, Jammu/Kashmir, director command area, Jammu/Kashmir, director central water conservation, chief engineer irrigation and flood control, Jammu/Kashmir, superintending engineer public works (R&B) department, Leh/Kargil, and representative of central ground water board, ministry of water resources, government of India shall be the members of the committee, the order states.

“The committee shall make elaborate arrangement for smooth conduct of two censuses, shall monitor and guide entire census exercise in the state, and shall review the progress of census work on a monthly basis,” the order states.

Furthermore, the committee shall be serviced by the directorate of economics and statistics, J&K.
