Expressing serious concern over hike in the rates of food stuffs including Atta and Rice, CPI(M) State Secretary, GN Malik today urged upon the government to take back the anti-people move with immediate effect.
In a press note issued here, GN Malik said that instead of providing relief and succor to the people of the state, the government is hell bent to allow the masses to suffer badly.
The steep hike of Rs.5/- per kg in the rates of atta and rice from Rs.8/- to Rs.13/- and Rs.10/- to Rs.15/, respectively is bound to affect the people adversely.
He said, the move which is anti people. Keeping in view the losses suffered by the farmers due to unfavourable climatic conditions coupled with turmoil in the valley and firing across LoC and IB in Jammu region, he said that the government is bound to provide respite to the people and reconsider and review the steep hike forthwith.
CPI(M) demands that the government must reverse the decision with immediate effect to provide reprieve to the general masses of the state.
