DC Samba stresses upkeep of Sgr-Jmu NH for smooth conduct of Amarnath Yatra

Samba, May 5: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Samba, Abhishek Sharma Sunday inspected maintenance of the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway stretch from Gaghwal to Bari Brahmana and asked the executing agencies for better upkeep of the road for smooth conduct of the Amarnath Yatra.

An official spokesman in a statement issued here said that the DC asked construction agencies to expedite the pace of work on the Highway stretch and complete the same before the commencement of the Amarnath Yatra.

   

He directed to prioritise the construction works, install signboards at diversions and identify and fill potholes within seven days along the stretch.

The DC Samba informed that 26 lodgment centres have been set up at different locations in district Samba for ease of yatris which can be used as transit camps.

The work of fly-over bridges at some locations was also reviewed and construction companies were instructed to expedite the same in a planned way so that these are completed as per timeline.  Further, the DC formed sub-division level committees headed by concerned SDMs to monitor the works of construction companies and to resolve issues of public as well as construction companies.

Additional Deputy Commissioner, Suresh C Sharma, SSP Traffic police and Officers of NHAI accompanied the DC.
