Delegations call on Center’s representative Sharma in Samba

Several delegations called on Center’s special representative for J&K Dineshwar Sharma and apprised him about their problems in Samba district on Thursday.

Sharma who was camping in the district from two days interacted with several delegations comprising political parties, social organizations and NGOs.

   

The delegations also discussed issues regarding district’s development with Sharma.

“We asked him to ensure expeditious execution of AIIMS at Samba, completion of border fencing on time and fast track construction of bunkers in Samba among other projects,” said Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP’s) Dr DK Manyal, who is also MLA Samba.

He added that they also apprised interlocutor about issues faced by farmers whose farms are living adjacent to border.

“The owners of the land should either be allowed to use their lands or compensated once for all,” he said.

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) delegation led by Dr Harmesh Singh Salathia said they asked interlocutor to organize special recruitment drives for the unemployed youth of the region.

A delegation of Bari Brahamana Industries Association (BBIA) led by its president, Lalit Mahajan sought special incentives for their sector.

“We apprised interlocutor about how centre excluded the state industries while announcing special incentives exclusively for the North East states,” he said.

The association also expressed its resentment with the interlocutor about Center’s reduction of package announced to state’s micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from Rs 800 crore to Rs 300 crore.

“We also demanded representation to local industries in cross LoC trade,” said Mahajan.

Besides, representatives from JKNPP, BSP, Gujjar Bakarwal Tribal Forum Samba, Kissan Union, Samba, People Forum Civil Society, Samba, Shiv Sena Samba, Panches and Sarpanches of the district also met Sharma during his visit to the district.
