Designated nodal officers to assist expert witnesses, doctors

In a significant decision, J&K High Court has directed all subordinate courts to designate nodal officers to have liaison with expert witnesses and doctors called in the courts for technical help.

According to an order issued in this regard by the principal secretary to the Chief Justice J&K High Court, all principal district judges of the state have been asked to designate Section Officer (admin) of their respective courts as Nodal Officer “to attend to the queries of these expert witnesses/doctors.”

These queries could include a query regarding availability of Judicial Officers on the date for which the witness has been summoned.

“All the principal district judges are asked to submit compliance report of these directions to the Chief Justice’s Secretariat within two weeks,” the order reads.
