Div Com inaugurates Peerkho Mahashivratri Mela

Divisional commissioner, Jammu, Sanjeev Verma on Sundayinaugurated annual Mahashivratri Peer Kho Mela in presence of director tourism,Jammu, OP Bhagat.

The Mela will continue for four days during which variouscultural programmes, Dangal, Shoba Yatra and other activities will be presentedand it will culminate on March 6.

   

The divisional commissioner, Jammu, Sanjeev Verma said thatthe government is committed to work towards development of tourism in the Stateadding that concerted efforts are being made to develop Peer Kho as a majorreligious tourist destination in the region.

He said the festival is one of the major tourist attractionsof Jammu city and visiting devotees as well as tourists should have bestexperience during the festivities.

On the occasion, various cultural items were performed byJ&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages and other artists.

The divisional commissioner hoped that the festival willusher the State in the era of peace and prosperity.

He also took stock of arrangements being put in place bydifferent departments for Mahashivratri Mela.
