Div Com reviews progress on construction of bunkers in border areas

Divisional Commissioner, Sanjeev Verma Thursday directed Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of border districts and executing agencies to expedite pace of work on construction of bunkers for their timely completion.

The Divisional Commissioner passed these directions whilechairing a meeting of the DCs of border districts to review the progress onconstruction of bunkers and other related issues in Jammu.

   

The DCs apprised the Divisional Commissioner about theprogress of works on the under construction individual and community bunkers intheir respective districts. It was informed that 6,581 bunkers have beencompleted so far across the border districts, including 5,867 individualbunkers and 714 community bunkers.

It was informed that 1,387 bunkers, including community andindividual bunkers have been completed in district Samba, 974 in districtJammu, 1,249 in district Kathua, 2,254 in district Rajouri and 717 in districtPoonch. It was informed that the remaining bunkers were also at differentstages of construction. The officers informed about the number of bunkers atfoundation level, superstructure level, and slab level.

The Divisional Commissioner directed the DCs to closelymonitor the construction and direct the executing agencies to adhere to thetimeline for completion. 

The meeting was attended by Deputy Director Planning,ChamanLal; Chief Planning Officers, Jammu, JoginderKatoch, besides executiveengineers of the agencies. The DCs of Kathua, Samba, Rajouri, Poonch along withofficers attended the meeting through video conferencing.

Earlier, in another meeting the Divisional Commissionerreviewed progress on land acquisition cases of Border Road Organisation (BRO).
