District Magistrate Ramban has ordered exhumation of body in a 'mysterious death' case.

"In mysterious death of Feroz Din of village Bhatani  Ramban, the  District Magistrate (DC) has ordered  SHO Police Station Dhramkund to disinter the body of  the deceased in presence of executive magistrate first class (Naib Tehsildar) and proceed as per rule 616(5) of Jammu and Kashmir Police manual" official sources said.

Earlier, the DM, vide his office letter number DCR/HQA/229-31 dated 16-07-2016 had asked the Senior Superintendent of Police Ramban to produce the case diary of the case.

The DM, after perusal of the police case diary, cited the divergent statements of witnesses as the need for disinterring of the body of Feroz Din.

It is pertinent to mention here that Feroz Din was found dead in a deep gorge after he left home on June 2, 2016 for his Water Mill.

Feroz Din was buried by his family members at Bhatani, but after few days his son filed a written complaint with police alleging that his father has been murdered. He had also mentioned the name of the alleged suspect.

However, Dhramkund Police after conducting investigation gave clean chit to the accused man, sources said.

"The son of the deceased approached Chief Judicial Magistrate Court (CJM) Ramban seeking directions to police to register FIR under section 302 RPC against the man he has mentioned in his complaint" they added. The CJM transferred the case to Judicial Magistrate First Class Ramban, who, after recording the statements of complainant and witnesses on oath and perusal of the complaint and material placed on record   ordered "To hold an inquiry in terms of section 202 CrPC to ascertain the truthfulness or falsehood of the allegations   before the accused is summoned".

The court had directed SSP Ramban to conduct the inquiry in terms of 202 CrPC and submit inquiry report on or before 24-08-2016. The Police conducted the inquiry and sought permission from DM to exhume the body.

However the date for disinterring of the body has not been fixed yet, said the police.
