The government today suspended the former principal Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H), Jammu, Dr Zahid Gilani for defying government order on the appointment of new principal Dr Sunanda Raina. The outgoing principal refused to vacate the office forcing the new principal to work from her old office.
"Dr Gilani has been suspended for defying government order," the Health Minister Bali Bhagat told Greater Kashmir.
Its in place to mention here that a high voltage drama was today witnessed at GMC&H Jammu, as the former principal, Dr Zahid Gilani, sacked as few-days ago, refused to vacate the office of the principal.
It was only the intervention of the commissioner secretary health, Dr Mandeep Bhandari, who took a serious view of this act of indiscipline, that Dr Gilani vacated the office. The government order had clearly noted that Dr Sunanda is the new principal.
Dr Sunada Raina supposedly faced the embarrassment after being denied entry into the office of the GMC principal. She returned to her old office chamber which she was holding as HoD, Anotamy, sources said.
Former principal, Dr Zahid Gilani had returned from New Delhi this morning after submitting revised proposal to union health ministry for additional PG seats at GMC, Jammu. He reached office and started functioning normally in defiance of the government order.
Sources said he was removed allegedly on the grounds that GMC, Jammu, did not project its case properly before the MCI which had earlier denied additional PG seats to GMC.
