Continuing over 100 year-old practice of Durbar Move, the JK government is all set to start functioning from here Monday for the next six months after shifting from summer capital Srinagar.
The civil secretariat and other offices will reopen in Jammu for winter season, an official said. He added that on the opening day Chief Minister will be given guard of honour by J&K Police at Civil Secretariat complex.
"All arrangements have been finalized to felicitate reopening of all move offices here," G.N. Itoo, Director Estates told Greater Kashmir.
"To accommodate move employees, 3200 residential units were allotted to the employees in Estates Colonies situated at Tange Wali Gali, Panjtarthi, B C road etc," he said adding, "800 additional rooms were booked in private hotels and 110 in Government owned JKTDC building in Residency Road Jammu for the employees."
Itoo further informed that 200 homes were hired in posh localities to accommodate senior and middle-rung government officers.
Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in and around Civil Secretariat complex. Sources said that additional police forces in various layers have been deployed around secretariat complex to thwart any threat.
"All security arrangements are in place to ensure smooth functioning of offices here," Ashkoor Wani, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Jammu- Samba- Kathua range told Greater Kashmir.
