Jammu, Nov 9: The Forest Minister, Mian Altaf, on Tuesday asked officials of the State Forest Corporation (SFC) to extract timber without any delay for timely supply to the consumers of the state.
"Providing timber to the needy people for construction purposes tops government agenda. Any lapses in stocking and supply of timber to the sale depots will not be tolerated," Altaf said while chairing the 62nd meeting of SFC board of directors here.
He said the Government would make up the shortage of timber by importing timber from other states. "Timber of outside states has already been introduced in the state on experimental basis. It has shown good results," he added.
Minister asked the concerned forest authorities to set up sale depots of this timber across the state particularly in those areas which are near forests. "This step is imperative to prevent timber smuggling," he added.
Mian Altaf called upon the employees to work with zeal and dedication to make SFC more energetic and commercial and achieve the targeted goal of income.
