GA Mir bats for simultaneous polls

Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief GA Mir on Thursday batted for holding of LokSabha and Assembly polls simultaneously.

Addressing a meeting of the District Congress Committee Jammu urban at Gandhi Nagar constituency, the PCC chief said that the uncertainty over the holding of Assembly polls should end as soon as possible so that the political process is fully geared up and the people get ready for the polls.

   

“Since ULB and panchayat elections have been held in the State despite staying away from some main parties, there should be no reason to delay the Assembly polls to provide an elected government to the people who facing numerous hardships,” he said.

Mir said that the democratic government is the best form of governance and the Governor’s rule is no substitute to it.

“The government must honour the sentiments of the people in all the three regions and go ahead for the installation of an elected government at the earliest by holding early polls,” he said.

Mir also called upon the party functionaries and delegates to go to the masses and maintain close rapport with the people and seek suggestions regarding the issues of the general public to be taken up in the party manifesto for the coming elections.
