HC directs SIT to file fresh status report in disappearance of Advocate

Over the mysterious disappearance of Advocate Raman Wazir, who is missing from July 31, 2016, Justice Tashi Rabstan of State High Court today directed SIT to file fresh status report on Monday and update the Bench about the investigation on day-to-day basis.

Over the mysterious disappearance of Advocate Raman Wazir, who is missing from July 31, 2016,  Justice Tashi Rabstan of State High Court today directed SIT to file fresh status report on Monday and update the Bench about the investigation on day-to-day basis. 

When the matter was taken-up today, Special Investigation Team filed a status report in which SIT submitted that during the course of investigation, SIT revisited the spot where the vehicle was found in order to proceed with the search of the place for collection of physical evidences, as per procedure with the help of forensic scientist in presence of respectable inhabitants of the locality and prepared scene sketch.  

The CCTV footage of Advocate Raman Wazir's house besides recording of CCTVs installed at NHW Lakhanpur Toll Plaza upto Srinagar and towards Mughal Road Via Rajouri has also been taken note of, the SIT                                          submitted.

It is further submitted that since the SIT comprises of officers having personal and physical knowledge of the entire area of Nagrota have activated their sources in the locality to extract lead/clues in tracing the missing Advocate Raman Wazir. List/details of bad characters, History Sheeters, budding goons and rowdies of the area was also collected from the Police Station, Nagrota besides obtaining surveillance files and intelligence data in order to explore the angle of Kidnapping as well, the SIT submitted. 

That crucial Call Detail Record (CDR) of the mobile phone and i-Pad belonging to the Raman Wazir already collected was minutely analysed, similarly the Facebook, Twitter and other social media Accounts and Emails are too being checked by the Team and data retrieving is in process in order to determine whether recent activity contains any clue which could be crucial to the case, the SIT submitted.  

Bank/ATM details of the Advocate Raman Wazir are also being collected in order to analyze recent financial transactions, besides this, brief recent history of family and relationship dynamics, the nature of personal land disputes of Raman Wazir and their status too are being explored by the SIT which would help the investigating team comprehend better the reasons behind the missing.  

It was also submitted that in order to have a quick survey of the vicinity in order to make an estimate of the situation, aerial search operation  radius through state chopper was also carried out and SIT is adopting proactive multipronged approach in tracing the missing Advocate Raman Wazir.

Justice Tashi Rabstan after going through the status report and after hearing Advocate Abdhinav Sharma and Pranav Kohli appearing for the petition, whereas Sr. AAG SS Nanda along with SIT Incharge Salaria SP south, observed that keeping in view the sensitivity of matter and to maintain the confidentiality of the investigation, brief in-camera proceedings with the members of the SIT, who are present in the Court, were also taken up in the official Chamber.

Justice Tashi further observed that the investigation is in progress. A request for more time is made for bringing the investigation to its logical conclusion. The request seems to be genuine. Accordingly, three day's time is granted. However, head of the SIT is directed to update the Bench about the investigation on day-to-day basis and directed SIT file fresh status report on Monday.

Meanwhile, the work in the state High Court as well District Court complex Jammu shall remain affected till August 5, 2016 as BAJ has extended strike.                                                        JNF
