House adjourned for want of quorum

Speaker Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta on Monday had to adjourn the House due to lack of quorum. It was for the third time in the budget session that the ruling parties failed to maintain quorum during the discussion on grants.

As the opposition MLA  Mian Altaf was speaking on grants for social welfare and science and technology department, speaker adjourned the House for 10 minutes from 6:10 pm to 6:20 pm.

“House is adjourned for 10 minutes due to lack of quorum,” Kavinder Gupta announced.

The adjournment was apparently embarrassing for PDP as it was for the third time during the current budget session that the treasury benches were empty in the House.

On January 24 the House was adjourned for want to quorum which had annoyed relief and rehabilitation minister Javid Mustafa Mir and was overhead saying “the members (from PDP) don’t take this House seriously.”

Earlier on January 20, the opposition came to rescue of the government to maintain quorum of the House as very few members were present in the treasury benches.
