India, China armies vow to maintain peace along Ladakh border

India and China armies on Saturday vowed to maintain peace along the border in eastern Ladakh.

A defences spokesperson said Ceremonial Border Personnel Meeting (BPM) was held on eve of Chinese Spring Festival on Chinese side at Chushul-Moldo and Daulat Beg Oldi (DBO)-  Ten Wen Den (TWD) meeting points of eastern Ladakh.

   

The Indian delegation at Chushul was led by Brigadier VK Purohit and Chinese delegation by senior Colonel Bai Min. At DBO, Indian delegation was led by Colonel SS Lamba and Colonel Song Zhang Li.

“The ceremonial BPM commenced with saluting National Flags by delegation members. This was followed by ceremonial address comprising of exchange of greetings, wishes and vote of thanks,” said Colonel Rajesh Kalia, officiating spokesperson of northen Command said.

The address reflected mutual desire for maintaining peace and improving relations at “functional level” along the border. A cultural program showcasing Chinese culture and traditions was also organized on the occasion.

“Both the delegations interacted in a free, congenial and cordial environment and committed to enhancing existing cordial relations,” said the spokesperson, adding both sides sought to build on mutual desire to maintain peace.
