India, Pakistan trade fire along LoC in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir

The armies of India and Pakistan on Wednesday exchanged firealong the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Reports said that the firingexchange began around 10 am in Khari Karmara area of Gulpur sector.

They said both the armies used small arms and mortars to targeteach other's positions along the LoC.

However, there was no immediatereport of any loss of life on either side.

Ceasefire violations havewitnessed a major spurt along the LoC in Poonch since India and Pakistancarried out tit-for-tat strikes last month.

Tensions flared up betweenIndia and Pakistan after a suicide bomber of Jaish-e-Muhammed (JeM) killed 40CRPF personnel in Pulwama district on February 14.

Amid mounting outrage, theIndian Air Force carried out an air strike in Pakistan on February 26.

The next day, Pakistan AirForce retaliated and downed a MiG-21 in an aerial combat and captured Indianpilot, who was handed over to India on March 1.
