Jammu gears up for Christmas, Colourful programs held in educational institutions

With churches across Jammu decorated with lights, balloons and ribbons, colourful programs were held in educational institutions to celebrate the festival of Christmas.

Christmas is celebrated every year on December 25-the birthday of Jesus Christ.

   

The main celebration function was held here at Christian Colony, Residency Road, Jammu by the Jammu and Kashmir Christian Association.   

As per the release, the celebration function was presided over by president of Jammu and Kashmir Christian Association, advocate Waris Gill, who gave X-Mas message and said that the festival is celebrated for the birth of Jesus Christ.

“Christ was already in the heavens along with God Jehovah and he had to come to Earth because Adam and Eve sinned by eating the forbidden fruit,” he said.

Choudhary Hamid Gill, president Christian Baradari Service was also present on the occasion.     

Surabhi Nursery School laboratory and Day Care Centre in PG Department of Home Science, Jammu University also celebrated Christmas with great zeal and zest in school premises.

A variety of cultural and allied items were presented by the tiny tots on the occasion.

The program started with the nursery rhymes by tiny tots of junior KG followed by song with puzzles.

Children answered all the puzzles with great enthusiasm. Boys of senior kindergarten performed dance on “Boogie Boogie”. Girls performed dance on the famous song “Dilbaro” which was applauded by all.

The program ended with the distribution of gifts by a little Santa.

Sarvodya Public School, Pounichack, SantraMorh, Jammu celebrated Christmas with great fervor and zeal. As per the release, to celebrate the day, the school campus was adorned with Christmas decorations.

The program began with choir followed by dance performance. Tiny tots attired as Santa Claus and fairies distributed sweets, sang Christmas carols followed by a dance on “Jingle bells”.

Chairman of the school, SubahChander Sharma advised the students to make new resolutions for the coming New Year. 

Director RoshanLal congratulated the students for putting up an incredible show.

Principal of the school, Deepika Rajput threw a light on the teaching of Lord Jesus Christ.  DRS Kids International School, RS Pura celebrated Christmas in its campus. School children dressed as Santa Claus performed various colourful programs.

Santa was nicely crafted and showcased along with a huge Christmas tree, which was decorated with various gifts.

Santa Claus distributed cakes and chocolates among children. A feast was also organised for the children who along with teachers sang Christmas carols.

Jammu Sanskrit School, Jammu celebrated Christmas and Gurupurab together. In this context, a special assembly was organised which filled the school environs with glee and sanctity.

During the program, the school students were asked to follow the preaching of Jesus Christ, who immensely believed in the notion of charity. In this context, Rakesh from Global Cancer Concern India, a leading NGO for Cancer patients, delivered a speech motivating the children to donate generously for cancer patients and Sanskritians met his expectations pretty well and a donation of substantial amount was generated.

Subsequently, the guest of the program, Emmanual Sidhu presented carols which engrossed the entire school completely. Jammu Sanskriti School, Kathua also organised a pre-Christmas function on Monday with much pomp and show.

The festive spirit was witnessed among school staff and students. The school premise was beautifully decorated with bright and colourful bells, stockings and stars created by the children in their craft class.

Tiny tots of pre-primary section celebrated Christmas by exhibiting their talents through songs and mesmerizing dance performances. They emphasised the importance of caring and sharing and spreading goodness of all around.

BalShishuShiksha Kendra High School Kaluchak celebrated Christmas with a great fervour and enthusiasm. Male students were dressed up like Santa Clause while girls were dressed up like fairies. They sang songs, recited poetry and performed a skit on the birth of Jesus Christ.  

Principal of the School, AnjuBakshi asked students to follow the preaching of Lord Jesus Christ.  

Mount Litera Zee School, Samba celebrated the festival of Christmas with fervour and delight. The students were greeted by Santa Claus, who passed candies to attendees of the function. A special Assembly was also organised under Leonardo Da Vinci House Head, Sushila, where students were made aware about the significance of the day. The event also included special dance and music performance by the students.

Christmas celebrations were also held in the premises of Delhi Public School, Udhampur. The celebrations started with prayers by the school choir followed by Carol singing. All the students came clad in red colour. The main element of surprise for the kids was ‘Our dearest Santa’ who came to spread his love and joy amongst the students. Santa Clause distributed sweets amongst the students and danced with them.

The pro-vice chairman of the school Dr JC Gupta and principal, DrKunalAnand wished the students and asked them to follow the teachings of Lord Jesus Christ.

Similar functions were held in other schools of the region.
