JMC goes tough against violations, seals unauthorized building

Acting tough against violation of building norms, the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) today sealed a building in posh locality of the city, Gandhi Nagar, which was being raised for commercial purposes by violating the                  norms.

The spokesman said that the building was sealed under the provisions of section 8 (1) of J&K Control of Building Operation Act, 1988.

The drive was carried out by the Enforcement staff of the JMC on the directions of Ramesh Kumar, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, and under the supervision of Rajesh Sharma, Joint Commissioner (Administration).

The owner had started the work to put the building for commercial use in violation of the land use of the area from residential to commercial one, the spokesman said.

Besides this, the JMC team also conducted a drive against the use of polythene carry bags and inspected various shops and other outlets in the different parts of the city.

During the inspection, the team seized polythene carry bags which were below 50 microns and also charged Rs. 10600.00 as fine from the defaulters.

The JMC requested the people to use the bags made of bio-degradable material. 

The JMC also appealed to the general public to refrain from making encroachments and unauthorized constructions/conversion in violation of land use otherwise strict action as admissible under rule leading to demolition or sealing will be taken. GKNN
