Kathua case fallout: BJP central, state IT cells plan massive social media campaigns

Fearing loss of ground in the aftermath of Kathua rape and murder case, the BJP state and central IT cells have chalked out a plan to launch a “massive social media campaign” to amplify their demand for a CBI probe into the Kathua incident, apart from highlighting government achievements among the masses.

The decision has been taken keeping in view the 2019 parliamentary elections. Sources within the party said that the decision to launch a “vigorous campaign” was taken by the party just before the cabinet reshuffle on April 30.  “The national head of the BJP IT and Social Media cell, Amit Malviya held online audio conference with the party workers and the trained people of state IT and Social Media Cell right up to district level during which they were told to be on the offensive and negate the perception besides highlighting achievements of the government,” said a party insider.  “Instructions have been passed to gather all material, videos, posts, comments, interviews, clippings, bytes etc., which highlight the loopholes in the investigation of Kathua murder case and support the CBI inquiry.”

“We are not fabricating anything. The party is only showing the facts,” said BJP state IT Cell in-charge, Jaidev Rajwal. “We have enough material with us.”

The party has two departments of IT Cell in the state having 10 well trained technicians. “We have trained technicians and volunteers up to the block level,” a party leader said.

The members of the IT cell have been directed to meet the party ministers, get information about the achievements of their departments, and spread it widely on social media. “District teams have been constituted and instructions passed on to negate the perception on social media which party believes is at present against it,” said a party insider.
