The Pathankot district and sessions court, hearing the rape and murder case of an eight-year-old girl of Rasana village of Kathua, Saturday directed the Crime Branch (CB) to preserve eight items linked to one of the accused, Vishal Jangotra.
The items to be preserved including answer sheets, attendance sheet, CCTV footage of bank, ATM, bank statement, etc.
The defence lawyers had filed an application before the court seeking directions for the Crime Branch to preserve the seized items linked to one of the accused Vishal Jangotra.
"The court ordered CB to preserve eight items under section 94 linked to Vishal Jangotra and produce them in the court as and when demanded," defence lawyer AK Sawhney told Greater Kashmir.
"Don't destroy these items. Preserve them and produce in the court as and when demanded," the court ordered CB.
The accused had claimed that he was not present in Rasana at the time of crime as he was appearing in an examination in Merrut.
"The seized items could prove to be vital in the case," Sawhney said while adding, "If not preserve, the seized items could have got damaged".
