New Delhi indulging in half hearted measures on Kashmir: Congress

While asking the BJP-led Central government to clear its stand on Yashwant Sinha led delegation's mandate, State Congress Vice President and MLC GN Monga today said that the twin visits by the former BJP minister to Kashmir could be termed nothing but wastage of time.

While asking the BJP-led Central government to clear its stand on Yashwant Sinha led delegation's mandate, State Congress Vice President and MLC GN Monga today said that the twin visits by the former BJP minister to Kashmir could be termed nothing but wastage of time.

In a statement Monga said, "The BJP-led Central government is trying to befool the people of Kashmir as well as rest of the country by sending such delegations to the Valley."  "Either the BJP should accept that Sinha led delegation has mandate of Government of India or their visits to Kashmir is a futile exercise."

"The Government should explain to people what they want to do and what is in their mind?  Delegations are coming to Kashmir, meeting people, government is under obligation to explain what is their roadmap?" he asked.

"There has been no change on ground since the visit of Sinha delegation. Though reportedly they met separatist leaders twice, New Delhi needs to clear its stand on the mandate of the delegation," he said and added New Delhi is indulging in half hearted measures on Kashmir," he said.

Appreciating the steps taken by Congress high command to diffuse the unrest in Kashmir in 2010, Monga said, "In 2010 then PM Dr Manmohan Singhji, Congress President Sonia Gandhiji and Vice President Rahul Gandhji took personal interest to diffuse the crisis in Kashmir."

"Even this time also it was Congress Leader of Opposition in Rajjya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad sahib who made tireless efforts to push the Center to send an all party delegation to Kashmir. However, the incumbent Center government is least bothered about the happenings in Kashmir," he said
