Lt Gen Ranbir Singh, Army Commander, Northern Command visited forward bases and posts in Poonch and Krishnaghati Sector to review the operational preparedness and the prevalent security situation.
Accompanied by the White Knight Corps Commander, Lt GenParamjit Singh Army Commander during the visit to the sectors was briefed bythe commanders on ground about the current operational situation, prevailingsecurity scenario and the preparedness of the formations in dealing with thesame. The Army Commander was also briefed on use of high end technologicalequipment and innovations by the units on ground to monitor the intrusions andinfiltration bids on Line of Control.
During the visit, the Army Commander was also updated by LtGen Paramjit Singh, White Knight Corps Commander, on the measures institutedfor a peaceful AmarnathYatra by ensuringa safe and conducive environment for the people coming for the pilgrimagethrough superior and aggressive domination of the area by the troops and defensivemeasures put in place to thwart the nefarious designs of the anti nationalelements.
The Army Commander interacted with the soldiers andcomplimented them for their unwavering dedication to duty, selfless devotionand high standard of professionalism.
He was appreciative of the measures and standard operatingprocedures instituted by the units and formations in their area ofresponsibility to minimise the casualties due to cease fire violations,infiltration bids and nefarious activities by anti national elements.
The need to be prepared for effectively meeting currentemerging security challenge was also reinforced. He exhorted all ranks on theneed to remain vigilant to counter the designs of the elements inimical topeace.
