Seeking hike in passenger fare, transporters on Sunday announced to observe complete bandh in Jammu on Monday.

The announcement came after an ultimatum served by the community to the government seeking redressal of their grievances expired on Saturday.

"We'd served an ultimatum to government to come up with a proposal to redress the issues of the transporters by September 29. We didn't get any response from the government side," TS Wazir, president Transporters Welfare Association said.

"We stick to our demand of observing Chakka Jam in entire Jammu region on October 1 and if our demands are not met, the strike call would be extended further," Wazir threatened.

He said that despite holding series of meeting with governmentrepresentatives regarding the fare hike, the State government announced only 8% hike in passengers.

"With prices of petroleum products touching all-time high under NDA government, we want the State government to give at least 30 hike in passenger fare," Wazir added.
