Over 80,000 pilgrims pay obeisance at cave shrine in 6 days

More than 80,000 Yatris have paid obeisance at Amarnath cave shrine in the six days of the ongoing annual pilgrimage.

An official said since the beginning of the pilgrimage onJuly 1, at least 81,630 Yatris paid obeisance at the holy cave.

   

While 14,402 pilgrims paid obeisance on the 6th day today,at least 5,155 pilgrims left from Baltal and 6,075 from Pahalgam route for thecave shrine.

In the first week one pilgrim lost life following cardiacarrest on July 2 on Pahalgam route.

The governor’s administration has during the ongoing Yatraevacuated five pilgrims by air, requiring special medical attention.

On July 3, four pilgrims were evacuated from Panjtarni andSheshnag and referred to Phalagam health facility. While on July 5, onecritically ill pilgrim was flown in a helicopter from Panjtarni toSher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Srinagar, for treatment.
