Day after Power Development Department (PDD) junior engineer was held captive by agitated protestors in Kathua district on Thursday PDD engineers held a protest here demanding stern action against the people involved in the act.
JE Muzafar Sheikh was held captive at Chack Surjan village of the district by angry protestors over recent cases of electrocution in the village.
Shouting slogans “stop harassing PDD employees”, the protesting engineers demanded stern action against the people who took law in their own hands.
They said that it is not difficult to identify the attackers of JE after video of the incident is dong rounds on the social media and accused administration of “playing down” the issue.
The protesting engineers said: “It is shameful that a PDD employee was taken hostage, abused verbally and tied to an electric poll in presence of Naib Tehsildar and SHO. If police and administration cannot guarantee safety to the employees, who else will do it?”
