PDD workers decide to snap power supply from Thursday

The agitating PDD workers who began their 72 hours tool down strike in the premises of PDD chief engineer’s office here on Monday, threatened to snap the power supply in the region in a phased manner after the conclusion of their strike on Thursday if their demands are notconceded.

“Initially, we will snap the power supply in Rajouri district and then Poonch, Reasi and other districts of the region would also face the blackouts,” J&K PDD need based, casual labours union Jammu province president Akhil Sharma told Greater Kashmir.   

   

On the first day of their strike, a call of which was given the previous day, a large number of need based, casual labourers assembled at PPD office and raised slogans against the higher-ups for not looking into their  issues.

Addressing the media, Akhil Sharma, the Jammu province president of the association said, “It is very unfortunate that the government is not serious on our issues. We’re being forced to take the coercive steps.”

PDD worker Bilal Ahmed of Banihal segment also participated in the protest. He said, “The PDD need based and casual labourers of Kashmir region were regularized in the month of April this year and they’re also getting their salaries, but we’re still being deprived of our fundamental rights.”

The striking employees of the State urged upon Governor to redress their issues at the earliest.
