Record 86 lakh pilgrims paid obeisance at Vaishno Devi shrine in 2018

Around 86 lakh pilgrims — highest in past five years — visited Vaishno Devi shrine in 2018, officials said today.

“Around 86 lakh pilgrims paid obeisance till midnight of December 31,” Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board Chief Executive Officer Simrandeep Singh said, adding, “The figure is highest in last five year.”

   

“Total 85, 86541pilgrims visited the shrine situated at Trikuta Hills in Reasi district, while on last day of the year, (December 31st) 43,123 paid obeisance,” said a board official.

“Last year, 81.78 lakh pilgrims visited the shrine, while it dropped from 93.24 lakh in 2013 to 78.03 lakh in 2014 due to Uttarakhand and Kashmir floods,” the official said.
