Sagar decries ‘discrimination’ in funds allocation

Senior National Conference (NC) leader and MLA Khanyar Ali Muhammad Sagar on Monday stated that he was hardcore NC leader and will come up as winner in next elections despite facing “discrimination” by the present government in allocation of funds for developmental projects.

The opposition MLA was speaking during the discussion on grants for roads and buildings department in the Legislative Assembly.

“I am hard core NC and there is no doubt in that. Even if you will adopt discriminative approach towards my constituency I will still come up as winner,” Sagar told R&B minister Naeem Akhtar who was listening to the members during their discussion on grants for R&B department.

Sagar while referring to the prevailing sentiment in Downtown said that getting 5000 votes from old city areas of Srinagar was equal to 50000 votes from other civil line areas.

“And if we don’t make development in the area, our voters pick us with our color and put to task and you should have realization about this,” Sagar said in the House.

Stating that taking money as bribe was not only means of corruption “but discrimination in executing developmental works on basis of political affiliation was equivalent to corruption.”

“You are a credible minister but you should develop a credible character as well,” Sagar told Akhtar.

Sagar said the present works minister closed all the developmental projects on basis of political affiliation.

“You should name your department as political vendetta instead of R&B,” he said.
