Several delegations call on LG Murmu

Several delegations called on Lieutenant Governor (LG), Girish Chandra Murmu at Raj Bhavan here Tuesday.

A delegation of NIS trained coaches, led by formerlegislator Vikram Randhawa called on the LG and apprised him of their issues.

   

The delegation said a number of sportspersons from Jammu andKashmir were trained from NIS Patiala and later engaged as community coaches bythe government in their respective districts, adding that even after givinggood results, J&K Sports Council discontinued their services without anyjustification.

The delegation demanded utilization of their sports skillsto uplift sports culture in J&K.

The LG gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assuredthem their genuine demands would be looked into on priority.

A delegation of All J&K Christian Sabha led by itsPresident Ashu Peter Mattoo also called on the LG and raised various issues anddemands of Christian community.

The delegation presented a charter of demands to the LG whichincluded constitution of Christian Welfare Board, allotment of land forgraveyard in Jammu west, housing colony and houses under PMAY, besidesaccommodation for Safai Karamcharis.

The delegation also demanded representation in political,educational and other government institutions.

They urged for providing benefits of various governmentschemes and reservation of seats to Christian aspirants in government collegesand in various competitive exams.

The LG assured them to examine genuine issues projected bythem for their redressal.

A delegation of Save Animals Value Environment (SAVE), alsocalled on the LG.

The delegation led by its Senior Vice President, DevinderKaur Madaan urged the LG for implementation of necessary reforms to improvecondition of street animals and livestock in J&K.

The delegation also demanded provision of  shelter and ambulance in each district forrescue and rehabilitation of abandoned, abused, injured or disabled animals,besides implementation of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, in letter andspirit in J&K.

The LG assured the delegation that their genuine demandswould be redressed expeditiously.
