Slain DySP cremated with State honours

DySP Aman Thakur, killed in a gun-battle with militants in South Kashmir’s Kulgam, was today cremated with State honours in Jammu in presence of thousands of local residents and officials.

Arya, six-year old son of the slain officer, lit the funeral pyre at Cremation Ground, Halqa Marh, in the city outskirts.

   

Waiving the tri-colour, thousands of mourners converged for the cremation who shouted slogans against Pakistan and in praise of armed forces.

Earlier, J&K Governor Satya Pal Malik, Union minister Jitendra Singh, advisors to the Governor and senior officers of the police, Army, CRPF and civil administration attended a ceremony at police lines and paid floral tributes to Thakur whose body was flown from Srinagar to Jammu in the morning.
