Specially- abled casts vote in Rajouri

Rajouri, April 26: Thirty four years old Iqbal Hussain is specially- abled since his childhood and he was informed by doctors that he is infected with polio viral infection.

The challenges faced by Iqbal due to his specially able nature left no impact on his dedication to cast vote and strengthen the democracy of country. Iqbal, who also runs a roadside shop in his native village Salyar Chata of Kalakote, walks with the help of wooden sticks and he was also provided with facility of voting from home that he denied to opt.

On Friday, without anyone’s help, Iqbal reached the polling station at Government Middle School Dali where he cast his vote.

“My village is located far from the pulling station as we were demanding establishment of polling station in our area but the polling station has been established at Dali school which is several kilometres away from my village,” he said adding that, ” Despite after having such a long distance, I decided to cast my vote without caring about my physical hardships.”

Iqbal reached main road of Dali where he was dropped by one of his friend on motorcycle from where he walked on his sticks and reached Government Middle School Dali.

” I was also provided with an option to opt for home voting on postal ballot as a part of facility provided to PwD voters but I denied to take this facility,”he said.
