Stranded J&K residents subjected to avoidable sufferings: Congress

J&K Pradesh Congress (JKPCC) President, GA Mir on Sunday said J&K residents stranded outside were suffering owing to the mishandling of the issue by the administration.

In a statement, Mir tookstrong exceptions to the avoidable hardships people have been subjected to dueto the mismanagement and mishandling of the issue by administration atdifferent levels.

   

“An unsympathetic and non-responsive system is adding to thewoes of the people, especially poor and hapless sections of society and thosestranded at different places,” Mir said.

Mir said all people barring few, mainly privileged ones,have voluntarily obeyed the lockdown and the advisories of the government ofIndia and the J&K administration, from time to time.

Mir said the strandedpeople have little access to bureaucratic system which does not respond to therepeated requests by them, while the labourers mostly were unable to haveaccess to the system.

“The government should immediately simplify and streamlinethe system for easy approach and early permissions to the stranded people,” Mirsaid.

He said similarly, other stranded people in different statesand within J&K, having grave urgencies were not being responded to by therespective designated authorities, despite repeated reminders.

“This is totallyunsympathetic and non responsive attitude of the officers and nodal officials,who don’t mostly respond,” Mir said. 

He said Congress was involved in relief operations inJ&K and entire country and over five lakh people both in UT and elsewherein the country belonging to J&K have been provided various types of help.

He said the congress was arranging trains from differentparts to send J&K people home.

“Two such trains areleaving Goa this evening and tomorrow. Likewise Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh tooare doing it though it is regrettable that J&K government was not sharingany data and requisite permissions for such people especially labourers,” saidMir.
