The Jammu Youth Forum (JYF) has urged the Governor N N Vohra to commence biometric attendance system in Jammu University (JU) to check the absenteeism of teachers and officials, as the same has been done in all the government offices to improve the functioning.
Addressing a press conference here the JYF University President Deepak Kumar said, "The absenteeism and lack of accountability has touched a new high in University of Jammu owing to poor administration of Vice- Chancellor owing to which students and scholars have been suffering badly," he said.
He added that teaching and research work had received a setback due to the lack of accountability on side of teachers and officials but the Vice Chancellor and Registrar have failed to control this nuisance. "The state government introduced the biometric attendance system in all the government to ensure attendance in all the offices included Colleges so that work would not suffer," he added.
"If Governor (who is also Chancellor of the University) to think about Jammu University also which is suffering badly. Biometric attendance system should be introduced in the University to put a check on teachers and officials who are taking hefty salary but contributing none to the system," he demanded.
