Western army commander reviews operational preparedness in Samba, Kathua

Western army commander, Lt General RP Singh Monday reviewed security situation and operational preparedness in forward areas in Samba and Kathua districts along the International Border (IB) in J&K.

According to PRO Defense, Jammu, Lt Col Devinder Anand, thecommander visited forward areas of the Rising Star Corps in both the districtswhere he reviewed the security situation and operational readiness.

   

The army commander wasaccompanied by Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi, GOC, Rising Star Corps.

“The army commander interacted with the commanders of thefield formations and was briefed about the operational and logisticspreparedness and up-gradation of security infrastructure,” said the PRO.

During his visit, the Army Commander interacted with troopsand lauded them for their motivation.

While interacting with the soldiers, he appreciated the highstate of preparedness of the Rising Star Corps to thwart any threat by”inimical and anti national elements.”

He also commended the efforts of the formations in the fightagainst the COVID19 pandemic.

A Defence source said since the summer has started, a highlevel alertness was being observed by the Army all along the border in Jammuand Kashmir.

“Last month, there were attempts by Pakistan to push in moremilitants across the Line of Control, but our alert soldiers foiled theirattempts,” the sources said.
