Will distribute prize money among colleagues, people: Lotus

The director Meteorological Department Sonam Lotus on Tuesday announced to distribute prize money with the people of state. 

Lotus had recently bagged ‘Best Employee Award’ for the year 2017-18 which included citation, certificate and cash money of Rs 50,000. He was awarded for his contribution in the field of climatology by Ministry of Earth Sciences at New Delhi.

   

Announcing his decision to distribute cash prize with the people of state, Lotus attributed his success to his colleagues and native people.

“I thank you all for showering your appreciation and wishing me on bagging the Best Employee Award of the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India in recognition of my service as a Meteorologist to the government and the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. The award consists of a citation, a trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 50,000,” Sonam wrote on social networking site Facebook.

He also said: “I believe that, being partners in our endeavors for a better and safer world, I would like to share the prize money, however small it may be, with my colleagues and the people of the state, because they are equal partner in our work, one way or the other”.

Lotus announced to distribute cash prize of Rs 50,000 equally among Cancer Society of Kashmir, Shri Onkar Singh Memorial Trust Jammu, Dr. Tashi Thinlas, Tashi Angchuk and company’s Ladakh Medical Society and his colleagues at the department.

“Thank you IMD and the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, it is my moral responsibility to give back to society who shaped the man I am today,” Lotus said.
