A woman was killed and 27 persons were injured when a vehicle skidded off the road and turned turtle in Reasi district on Wednesday, the police said. The accident took place near Rudd Bridge in the district, they said.
“A matador (JK20-5207) coming from Panassa towards Reasi rolled down the road near Rudd Bridge in Arnas area of Reasi,” police here said.
They said that a woman, identified as 55-year-old Lajwanti, wife of Ram Saroop and a resident of Thub, died on the spot.
The injured were shifted to district hospital Reasi, from where they were referred to GMC&H Jammu.
The injured have been identified as Chain Singh (30) of Panasa, Manju Devi (21), Surishta Devi (22), Renu Devi (30), Punjab Singh (40), Suram Chand (18), Ridhi Sharma (3), Ranju Devi (20), Koushalya Devi (50), TalibHussain (30), Mushtaq Ahmed (25), Parveen Akhter (23), Ranjeet Kumar (25), Ranjinder Singh (30), Rattan Singh (20), Nazir Ahmed (30) and Ranjinder Kumar (22), all residents of Panasa, Ragubir Singh (35), Surjeet Kumar (20) and Angrez Chand (22), all residents of Thakrakote, Radhika Sharma (3) of Salal, Aakash (3), Bashir Ahmed (68), Darshana Devi (30) and Sakeena Begum (35) of Bidda, Kaka Ram (33) of Kanthi and an unidentified boy (4).
