Ruling PDP leader Choudhary Zafar Ali Khatana today resigned from the post of vice-chairman of Jammu and Kashmir State Advisory Board for the Development of Gujjars and Bakerwals.
He had assumed the office on 20 August, 2015. In his resignation letter addressed to Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, Zafar Ali expressed displeasure over allegation leveled on him for having affiliation with some other political party.
"The allegations are baseless. Party is ignoring me selfless services and hardware in hard times," Zafar stated in the resignation letter.
"I have personal and blood relations in the community, which I cannot ignore for the any party or organization. I have the self-respect. It is not fair that I have to explain my blood relations for the sake of chair," the letter reads. "I have been on chair without any powers for three years. People came to me with hopes to get there genuine demands addressed but I have to cut a sorry figure as I have no power vested on the chair," he said.
"Plan for the Tribal community is decided without my and this chair is ignored while preparing development plan for SCA and TSP at every level. I am being ignored in laying foundation stones of even the hostels, which are running under my control without even informing me. It clearly shows the attitude of party towards me," he said.
"Keeping in the view above said facts I do hereby resign from the chair of Vice-Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir State Advisory Board for the Development of Gujjars and Bakerwals," the letter reads.
