Residents of Hajin and Sumbal wonder why the 10-km road between the two places needed 28 speed breakers, which they say causes inconvenience to the commuters, especially the ailing travellers.
Besides the unwanted speed breakers, the people are also aghast that the road has neither been widened nor macadamised in the past 15 years. Neither have encroachments been checked or removed.
“The 15 minute journey takes half an hour,” said Gowhar Mir, a local resident.
“Countless time we appealed to the deputy commissioner Bandipora and other authorities to remove these speed breakers but they turned a blind eye,” Mir said.
Executive Engineer R&B division Sumbal Syed Sharief said all unnecessary speed breakers would be removed from the road. He said macadamisation will be carried out in the coming season.
