100 IUST students, faculty register for blood donation

A blood donation camp was held on Tuesday at Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) Awantipora. 

The camp held in collaboration with district hospital Pulwama, was aimed to create awareness among students about blood donation, an IUST handout said.

   

According to the statement as many as 100 students and faculty members registered themselves for blood donation at the camp.

Vice chancellor IUST, Prof. Mushtaq A Siddiqi inaugurated the camp. He praised the students for their contribution in organising the camp and making it a success.

“Blood donation is a noble. This camp is organized with the aim to sensitize the students about this noble cause, so that all sections of society in general and youth in particular, contribute to the welfare of the humanity,” the VC IUST said.

He said IUST has organised such camps in the past and more such events will be organized in future as well.

Chief medical officer (SMO), Pulwama in his address said such camps help create awareness about the need and important of blood donation among the masses in general and the students in particular.

Medical superintendent, district hospital Pulwama, Dr Rashid Parra said they will facilitate IUST in the capacity building of the students as well as the staff to make them trained and skilled volunteers.

Registrar IUST, Prof. Farooq Ahmed Mir and other officials of the University were present.
