Lieutenant Governor (LG), Girish Chandra Murmu on Wednesday said that the government has so far e-auctioned 119 mineral blocks and directions has been passed for granting short term mining permits at local levels.
He said this while addressing a mining and quarrying (M&Q) delegation led by Mohammed Ashraf Mir, former Minister, who called on the LG at Raj Bhavan today.
"The administration is making head-ways in addressing the mining issues in compliance with the Court and NGT directions.
"In compliance with these directions, the government has e-auctioned 119 mineral blocks," the LG said.
"Directions have already been passed for granting immediate short term mining permits at local levels involving local self government to ensure that people do not suffer due to paucity of minor minerals," LG added.
The delegation apprised the LG about the issues concerning the people engaged in mining and quarrying works and sought his intervention in resolving them in a time bound manner.
The Lt Governor assured the members of the delegation that the genuine issues projected by them would be resolved at the earliest. He also urged the former Minister to continue his sustained endeavours for promoting public welfare.
