‘13 district dialysis centres fully operational in J&K’

The Health and Medical Education Department Tuesday informed that 13 district dialysis centres are fully operational across the State under Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis (PMND) program.

The program was launched in the State in 2017-18 in 15District Hospitals – of Jammu, Doda, Kathua, Poonch, Rajouri, Kishtwar andUdhampur, Anantnag, Baramulla, Kargil, Leh, Pulwama, Kulgam, Kupwara and JLNMHospital Srinagar.

   

“The dialysis centres at District Hospitals of Kishtwar andKupwara are going to be operational soon under the Union Government’s program.The cost of each dialysis session for APL patients has been fixed at Rs 950whereas it is free for BPL patients, cost of which shall be reimbursed by StateNational Health Mission,” an official statement said.

A total of 70 dialysis machines were allotted free of costto the State, of which, till date, 64 machines have been received andinstalled, it said.

“In 2018-19, as many as 8329 dialysis sessions wereconducted on 203 patients in these centres and in the current fiscal 2375dialysis sessions have been conducted till May 2019,” the statement added.

The Centre’s dialysis program is aimed to provide improvedaccess to dialysis services at district headquarters and to reduceimpoverishment on account of out-of-pocket expenditure for patients who have toundergo important life-saving procedure.
