Bandipore, July 25: In a major drive to curb drug menace in north Kashmir's Bandipore district, police on Sunday arrested eight persons accused of being involved in the sale of codeine. The additional superintendent of police, Shamsher Hussain led the drive at Nusu Bandipore and arrested the main accused Ghulam Mustafa Khan of Mugnipora. Shamsher told Greater Kashmir that police was on lookout for Khan as he was the main accused in drug peddling.
"We recovered 168 bottles of codeine from his possession. He has been booked under Narcotics Act," Shamsher said. Giving details, he said Khan was arrested on three occasions and police had launched major drive to eradicate the drug menace from the area since the residents had complained against the surge in sale of codeine.
