The police on Saturday claimed to have arrested 19 timber smugglers here.
Official said timber smugglers were arrested from Rajpora village near Sopore. “These smugglers were evading arrest for long time,” he said.
The locals have hailed the police action.
The accused were identified as Bilal Ahmad Lone, Ali Mohammad Lone, Mohammad Afzal Lone, Tariq Ahmad Rather, Riyaz Ahmad Lone, Ghulam Nabi Sheikh, Abdul Gaffar Lone, Habibullah Sheikh Ashiq Hussain Lone, Abdul Rashid Lone, Ashaq Ahmad Lone, Manzoor Ahmad Lone, Fayaz Ahmad Lone, Firdous Ahmad Lone, Khursheed Ahmad Lone, Sajad Ahmad Lone, Bashir Ahmad Lone, Shazad Ahmad Lone–all hailing from Rajpora Sopore.
