2 forest employees injured in attack by sand smugglers

Two forest employees were injured in an attack by sand smugglers in Laharwalpora village of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Tuesday.

An official said the employees, identified as Abdul Rashidand Mohammad Hussain, were on patrol to check illegal extraction of sand, alongthe banks of Wular Lake in Laharwalpora village, when they were attacked by thesmugglers.

   

“Both the employees were beaten to pulp by the smugglers.One of them was taken to district hospital Bandipora for treatment,” theofficial said.

He said police have taken cognizance of the case andregistered an FIR against 11 persons allegedly involved in the attack, atpolice station Bandipora.
