2 girls attempt suicide after failing to clear class 12 exam

Two girls of class 12 on Tuesday tried to commit suicide in Bandipora and Sopore areas in north Kashmir after failing to clear exam, results of which were declared Monday.

A police official said that a girl (name withheld) tried to commit suicide in Qazipora village of Bandipora by consuming some poisonous substance at her home.

   

“She was shifted to district hospital Bandipora from where she was referred to SKIMS medical college Bemina Srinagar for specialized treatment. She is under observation,” said the official.

Another girl tried to commit suicide by jumping into river Jhelum near Batpora area of Sopore. She was rescued after timely action by some locals who shifted her to SDH Sopore for treatment. BMO Sopore, Dr. Sami, said the girl was out of danger.
