‘2 JeM militants arrested in Kupwara’

Two Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) militants were arrested in a joint operation by police and army in this district on Thursday, a police official said.

The official said acting on a tip-off, security forces jointly laid a naka near FCI godown at Drugmullah and intercepted a private car carrying the two militants.

The official identified the arrested militants as Waseem Irshad Gabroo of Takiyabal-Arampora, Sopore and Mehraraj-Ud-Din Wani of Badshah Masjid, Sopore.

"One AK-47 rifle, one AK magazine, two grenades, 30 AK rounds and Rs seven lakh cash were recovered from their possession," the official said.

He said a case (FIR No. 233) has been registered at police station Kupwara and further investigation has been taken up.
