2 soldiers injured in Handwara army camp blast

Two soldiers were wounded in a mine blast at an army camp in Lachampora Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday, police said.

A police official said the explosion took place when thearmy unit was fixing barbed wire around the 15 RR camp.

   

“During the preliminary examination of the incident it isbelieved that it was an old mine and the unit was not aware about itslocation,” a police official said.

The injured soldiers were taken to nearby medical unit forfirst aid. “The duo was later airlifted to Badami Bagh Srinagar for furthermedical attention,” he said.

The police official identified the injured soldiers asKrishna Parshad and Davendar Singh Thapa of 15 RR.
