2013 FIRE AND EMERGENCY RECRUITMENT | Aspirants protest as the deptt sits on selection list

Scores of aspirants for jobs in Fire and Emergency department on Tuesday held a protest demanding release of final selection list of the various posts advertised six years ago.

The aspirants from various districts assembled at Presscolony here holding placards that read “Comply with court orders”, “Releaseselection list” amid slogans in favor of their demands.

   

Aggrieved aspirants said that despite court orders,authorities are sitting on the selection list.

“Since 2013 when the posts were advertised, we have facedlot of hurdles. A court stay was bought to these posts which we fought byhiring a lawyer after pooling money. That issue was also resolved. We fail tounderstand why the department is not issuing selection list now” said FirdousAhmed, an aspirant. “In these 6 years many of us have crossed the upper agelimit. We have been fighting for our right since last six years”.

The aspirants said that they have met several officials andheld scores of protests but the authorities are turning a deaf ear.

The aspirants said that 877 posts were advertised in 2013 inwhich around 12,000 aspirants applied and around 7000 aspirants wereshortlisted for written exam.

In February Greater Kashmir had reported that the vacantposts in department comprise 971 posts of fireman, 174 posts of fireman driversand 114 posts of mechanical drivers.
