Srinagar: With the arrest of two persons, police on Thursday claimed that the duo had murdered a Ganderbal youth who was missing since past month.
In a statement, the SP Ganderbal said Police Post Shadipora had received an application from Abdul Ahad Guroo of Atkhuru, Ganderbal stating that his 17- year old son, Aijaz Ahmad Guroo was missing from November 10, 2010.
Acting on the complaint, police registered an FIR (170/2010) under section 364 RPC in Police Station Ganderbal and started investigation. However, police said it achieved a breakthrough after recovery of Aijaz's mobile from Haseena wife of Ghulam Nabi Khanday of Zangam Pattan.
"This led to the arrest of one suspect Umar Rashid Malla of Atkhuru who accepted that he had killed Aijaz in collaboration with Mehraj-ud-din Khuru of Atkhuru and threw his body in Nallah Sind. Upon the disclosure of the accused, the body of the victim was recovered from the Nallah. The body bore visible marks of violence. The kidnapping case was accordingly converted into murder case," the statement said.
It said after the post mortem and legal formalities, the body was handed over to next of the kin for last rites.
