Rafiabad (Baramulla) Oct 9: Senior Congress leader Abdul Gani Vakil on Wednesday hailed Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi for taking a tough stand to get the ordinance, envisaging protection to convicted legislators and parliamentarians from disqualification, revoked.
In a statement here Vakil said: "It is a historical contribution towards Indian politics, which will not only prevent criminalization of politics but will help in providing clean and corruption free governments in India."
He said that views expressed by Rahul with regard to Ordinance should serve as a beacon light for those who desire to raise their voice against corruption and criminalization of politics.
Vakil said that the seriousness of the Congress to eradicate the corruption, from all levels is now crystal clear due to the stand taken by Rahul. He said that every leader must show courage to tackle the menace of corruption to save the nation.
He also appealed the high command to start its crusade against corruption and take stringent action against corrupt and tainted Ministers of Congress party in the State besides urged the state government to expedite the process of initiating action against high profile dishonest persons and bureaucrats.
